Car slow to start

2014 Kia Rio slow to start, and other issues. My wife's car is having issues. I'll try to explain them in the order they happened. 2 days ago it was raining while she was driving. The battery light came on for a moment and car was squealing, but then it went away and ran fine. Basically when you upgrade your engine and drivetrain, your power increases, but if you don't tune it you don't really end up using that power.
